Stuart Woods once told me that he learned everything he knew about writing from Lawrence Block. What is interesting is that Larry is as interesting speaking as he is writing.

Leonid Yudasin Interview

For those who don’t understand such things, that means he has played Karpov and Kasparov, and lived to tell about it. He has also been chess champion of Israel at one time and of Russia another time.
